Yuksom-Dzongri-Gochela. 9 days
Day 01: Arrive Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri - Yuksom
Pick up by Jeep from either Bagdogra /N JP, Darjeeling, Gangtok, or Kalimpong and transfer to road head at Yuksom,
1780 m.
06 hrs. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Yuksom - Tshokha
Morning start the Trek through serene mountains and picturesque surroundings to Tshokha ( 3050 mtrs 07 hrs ).
Overnight in Lodge / Tents.
Day 03: Tshokha - Phedang - Tshokha
Acclimatization trek to Phedang 3760 m, and back. 4-5 hrs. Overnight at Tshoka lodge/tents.
Day 04: Tshokha - Dzongri Meadows
Trek to Dzongri meadows 4025 m. Overnight trekkershut/tents.
Day 05: Dzongri Meadows - Thangsing
Sunrise view from Dablakhang. Trek to Thangsing, 3800 m, in Praig chu valley. O4 hrs. Overnight trekkers hut/tents.
Day 06: Thangsing - Praig chu valley - Tshokha
Trek through Praig chu valley to Tshokha , 3250 M in 04 hrs.
Day 07: Tshokha - Yuksom ( Trek ) - Pamayangtse (Drive )
Trek back to Yuksom, 1780 m in 05 hrs. Drive by jeep to Pamayangtse. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08: Pamayangtse - Gangtok
After visit to famous Pamayangtse Monastery, transfer by jeep to Gangtok in 05-06 hrs.
Day 09: Gangtok - Departure
Intime transfer to Bagdogra to board flight or to New Jalpaiguri to board train for onward destination.

Rabongla to Maenam, 10km
A three hour trek uphill from Rabongla through the
Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary teeming with Magnolia, Rhododendron and small bamboo
to reach the hilltop which is at an altitude of 3235m (10612ft). The view from
Maenam summit is picturesque and breathtaking. In the west an amazing vista of
the sparkling peaks of the Kanchendzonga range spreads before you.

Hilley to Varsay, (8km return)
From Hilley, one has to trek for four kilometres that
takes approximately one hour to reach Varsey which is at an altitude of 3049m
(10000ft). At Varsay the rhododendrons reign supreme and during the month
of March they are a riot of red and white.
Many other treks can be arranged in the immediate area
of Rinchenpong and further afield at Yoksum.

White water rafting

The white waters of the Tista and the Rangit offer some
good stretches of thrilling rapids. Swirling rides can be organised from Melli.
The rapids, rated according to the Colorado River standards, are grade 2 and 3. |

recipes and cooking methods of Sikkim on a wood burning hearth.

Local history trek

Monastery tour
From Rinchenpong the tour starts with a visit to
Pemayangtse, the Perfect Sublime Lotus, a magnificant monastery in western
Sikkim commanding one of the finest views of the Kangchendzonga range.
From here you travel to Sangacholing an even older monastery than Pemayangtse.
Next you visit the sacred lake of Khechopalri and the monastery closeby.
After an overnight halt at Yuksam a morning visit to Dubdi gompa with stunning
views of the Kangchendzonga range, is followed by a visit to Tashiding, a
picturesque gompa situated in a peaceful location between the Ratong and Rangit
rivers on a hill top. Tashiding is second only to Pemayangtse in
sacredness for the Nyingma sect.
